DeBerry Insurance Agency to Host 6th Annual FREE SHRED DAY Event and Food Drive for The Well Outreach on Saturday, April 2nd
DeBerry Insurance Agency will host their 6th Annual Free Shred Day event for the community on Saturday, April 2nd. The event will take place at DeBerry Insurance Agency, 5232 Main Street in Spring Hill, from 10 AM to 2 PM. A Shred-It Truck will be on site throughout the event.
To date, the DeBerry Insurance FREE Shred Day event has shredded more than 18 tons of paper. The paper that is shredded during FREE Shred Day is recycled which lessens the amount of energy, water, and deforestation required to make new paper. The recycling effort also deflects waste that could otherwise make its way to landfills.
Perhaps even more importantly, the FREE Shred Day event helps people safely discard of potentially identifying papers.
“As insurance agents, it is our job to think about the unexpected,” said Eric DeBerry, Owner of DeBerry Insurance Agency. “Identity theft is becoming more of a problem every year. Properly discarding of identifying papers is one of the best ways to prevent identity theft. We offer insurance for individuals and businesses that can help recover losses incurred because of identity theft. Taking steps to prevent losses in the first place is the best measure.”
The DeBerry FREE Shred Day event for 2021 was a tremendous success. Hundreds of people participated filling the truck in record time. Due to the growing popularity of the event, participants are asked to keep the amount of paper being shredded to a reasonable amount of three or less banker’s boxes to ensure that as many members of the community as possible can enjoy this free event. Persons with truck or trailer loads are asked to wait until the end of the event if truck space permits.
“Each year, our attendance has grown for our FREE Shred Day event,” said Chris DeBerry, Owner of DeBerry Insurance Agency. “We get calls throughout the year from people who are interested in participating. We continue to host this event because it is so needed and appreciated. We are thankful to be able to provide this service for the community year after year.”
During the FREE Shred Day event, DeBerry Insurance Agency will also be collecting food donations for The Well Outreach. The agency has collected several hundred pounds of food for The Well as part of their annual Free Shred Day event. Food donations are not required for participation in FREE Shred Day, but they are appreciated.
Shelly Sassen, Executive Director of The Well Outreach, said the food donations are greatly needed and appreciated as The Well is still seeing unprecedented serving numbers in 2022.
“We are serving 27% more families this year than we did in 2021, which was our biggest serving year in our 16-year history,” said Sassen. “We are so thankful to organizations and businesses in our community like DeBerry Insurance who continue to support The Well in so many ways!”
