Eric DeBerry, Owner of DeBerry Insurance Agency, was featured in a recent article published by The Columbia Daily Herald. In the article, DeBerry addresses the recent cyberattack on the City of Spring Hill’s computer system and precautions that can be taken in preparation of such unfortunate instances.
“On the private sector, extortion threat coverage is available if you want to purchase it through a cyber and data-breach policy. Some people choose not to purchase it due to cost. A lot of times, it’s not that expensive,” Co-owner Eric DeBerry said. “But municipalities and government entities — should they have it? I can’t imagine not with the amount of data they house. I think it would be prudent to have that type of coverage.”
